Insurance & Loss Assessors

What is the difference between a Loss Adjuster and a Loss Assessor?

When you make a property claim, your insurance company will send out a Loss Adjuster. It is important to know that the Loss Adjuster works directly for the insurance company to investigate the incident and protect the insurer’s financial interests. On the other hand, a Loss Assessor is an independent expert that you, the homeowner, can hire to work exclusively for you.

Should I hire a Loss Assessor?

Many homeowners choose to hire a Loss Assessor because it takes away the massive stress of a major incident. Your Assessor will champion your claim, handle all the complex paperwork, take over the stressful phone calls, and fight to ensure you receive your full entitlement to cover all the restoration and rebuilding works required.

How does JV Restoration Services help with my insurance claim?

Whether you use an independent Loss Assessor or manage the claim yourself, our role is to provide undeniable, scientific proof. We conduct advanced moisture mapping, thermal imaging, and chemical salt tests to prove exactly what caused the damage and how far it has spread. We then issue formal Assessment Reports and Verification Certificates, giving your insurance company the exact data they need to approve your claim without pushback.

Water Damage Restoration FAQs

Always call a plumber or leak detection specialist first. Before any professional drying or restoration can begin, the active water source must be permanently stopped. Once the plumber has packed up and the leak is fixed, we immediately step in for the recovery phase.

Absolutely. We do not rely on guesswork. Our detailed, data-heavy reports contain high-resolution photos, psychrometric atmospheric readings, and moisture maps that justify exactly what needs to be done to save your property, meeting strict insurance standards.

When porous materials like plasterboard and insulation get wet, they act like a saturated sponge, trapping water tightly against your home’s structural framework. By safely stripping out the ruined materials, we open up the wall cavities so our high-velocity air movers can dry the actual “bones” of your house properly, preventing long-term rot.

Every home dries differently depending on the materials and how deep the water travelled. We do not guess when it is finished; we regularly monitor your property using advanced moisture meters to track the progress. The equipment stays exactly as long as it takes to reach a safe, verified dry standard.

Yes. All of our commercial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers are rigorously tested, RCD-protected, and designed specifically to run continuously and safely unattended in domestic properties.

In most cases, no. We position our equipment to maintain safe access routes for your family. If the structural damage is incredibly severe or unsafe, we will advise you immediately during our initial assessment.

Before we begin the strip-out or install any equipment, we carefully manage the contents of the room. We will move, protect, or block up your belongings to keep them away from the wet work zone and prevent any secondary damage

We never rely on just touching the surface. We use advanced non-invasive radio-frequency moisture meters, thermal imaging cameras, and in-situ floor probes to physically verify that the core structural timber and concrete have returned to their normal, pre-loss moisture levels.

Yes. Clean water from a burst pipe degrades rapidly if it is trapped behind walls. That musty smell indicates that bacteria and microbial growth have started to amplify. We need to expose the cavity, apply a specialist hygienic treatment to neutralise the pathogens, and dry the structure properly.

We do not handle the cosmetic rebuild. Our specialist job is to ensure the core structure of your home is perfectly dry, stabilised, and hygienic. Once we issue our Verification Certificate, we step aside so your chosen builders and decorators can immediately commence the final cosmetic rebuild.

Mould Remediation FAQs

Standard bleaches and cleaners only remove the colour from the surface—they leave the living root structures completely intact. Painting over it just hides the hazard. We use a specialist dual-stage chemical protocol to physically break down the biofilms and biologically eradicate the roots so the mould cannot survive.

Yes, your safety is our ultimate priority. All our targeted biocide treatments strictly comply with UK health and safety regulations. We seal off the affected rooms and ensure the air is scrubbed clean so that our chemical applications are perfectly safe for your home.

Before we disturb any mould, we erect sealed physical polythene barriers to isolate the damage. We then run commercial HEPA-filtered negative air scrubbers continuously while we work. This captures the invisible, airborne spores and prevents cross-contamination.

Not always. Mould destroys porous materials (like plasterboard), but many items can be saved. We assess your contents carefully. Items that cannot be restored safely are disposed of, while others can be protected or cleaned.

Usually, you simply need to stay out of the sealed containment zone while we are working. However, if the contamination is severe, or if you have highly vulnerable individuals in the home (such as young children or asthmatics), we may advise avoiding the property during active removal works.

Yes. We provide a complete, audit-proof paper trail. Our detailed assessments, photographic evidence, and final Verification Certificates prove to regulators that the structural hazard was rapidly and forensically eradicated in full compliance with your legal obligations.

When mould is caused by an escape of water, the roots penetrate deeply into porous building materials. You cannot effectively kill mould that has deeply penetrated; it must be completely removed. We strip out the ruined materials to guarantee zero hidden growth is left behind.

We act rapidly to take control of the environment. The exact duration depends on the severity of the outbreak, but our systematic approach—from containment and strip-out to dual-stage chemical treatment and final HEPA-vacuuming—is designed to resolve the biological hazard as efficiently and safely as possible.

Yes. Clean water from a burst pipe degrad

Mould is a serious biological hazard and a known respiratory risk. We treat it strictly as an Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and health issue, which is why we utilize advanced HEPA filtration, strict containment, and high-level personal protective equipment while we eradicate it from your home.

es rapidly if it is trapped behind walls. That musty smell indicates that bacteria and microbial growth have started to amplify. We need to expose the cavity, apply a specialist hygienic treatment to neutralise the pathogens, and dry the structure properly.

Fungal growth is strictly moisture-dependent. By identifying and stopping the root cause of the moisture, physically removing the ruined materials, and forensically destroying the root structures with our biocides, we ensure the environment is returned to a normal, safe condition.
